New numbers released by analyst Canalys on Wednesday show Fitbit devices accounted for nearly 50 percent of the world's 2.7 million wearable band shipments in the first quarter of 2014. Apparently, the recent kerfuffle and recall over allergic sensitivities to the Fitbit Force had little if any impact on sales. Canalys believes it was Fitbit's swift handling of the issue that let the company keep its users and sales momentum. While Fitbit nabbed nearly half of the market share, another strong competitor was Jawbone. This newcomer has seen rapid expansion in international distribution, according to Canalys. Nike's FuelBand, on the other hand, didn't fair so well. It's market share dropped by 10 percent in the first quarter. Nike is reportedly canceling all of its future FuelBand devices.

"The FuelBand has frankly been outmatched on sales," Canalys analyst Daniel Matte said in a statement, "Its competitors' speed, international reach, broader channel distribution, integration with other fitness communities, superior web sites and multi-platform support have proven to be major advantages."While Fitbit and Jawbone dominated the wearable bands market, Pebble took top honors in the smartband segment, The company's Pebble Steel and its other e ink iphone case devices took 35 percent of the world market share -- beating out Sony and Samsung, In fact, Samsung actually lost market share in the first quarter dropping to 23 percent..

"The company must make some big steps to improve sell-through and customer satisfaction with its new products," Canalys VP and principal analyst Chris Jones said. While the wearable band market appears to be strong with 2.7 million units shipped in the first quarter, the smartband market isn't doing as well. Total smartband shipments didn't even break half a million in the first quarter, according to Canalys. "Some industry observers are wondering if the wearables market is a failure, but Canalys believes the current dynamics instead reflect the rapidly changing nature of wearable devices," Canalys research analyst Joe Kempton said. "More sophisticated sensor technology designed specifically for wearables will be arriving soon."The recent recall of the Fitbit Force over skin irritations appears to have no bearing on the wearable's sales momentum.

I got a chance to test out Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 805 processor, and while it easily beats every ARM CPU/GPU e ink iphone case combo before it, it's not orders of magnitude faster than its predecessors, Check out the charts and analysis below, and look for future coverage of the 805 later this year once it actually starts arriving in devices, The 3DMark benchmark running at 720p and 1080p easily maxed out on all the devices I tested, making its usefulness as a comparison tool limited, 3DMark Unlimited unfortunately runs at the test device's native resolution, making a one-to-one comparison between Qualcomm's reference tablet -- with a high 2,560x1,440 screen resolution -- and the 1080p phones on the list impossible..

Instead, GFXBench 3.0 made for a much more relevant benchmark, since it pushes devices harder while running them all at 1080p. As you can see from the results above, the 805 has at least a five frames-per-second advantage over its nearest competitor, the Snapdragon 800. And that's on the more-demanding Manhattan benchmark. On the more forgiving T-Rex test, the advantage is even greater. Qualcomm still plans to release its 64-bit 808 and 810 early next year, but for right now, the 805 is king. We got a chance to test out Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 processor. Here's why it's the fastest CPU/GPU combo yet.

Qualcomm invited CNET and other mobile journalists for hands-on demos of reference tablets running on a Snapdragon 805 chip in a bunch of different scenarios, Here's what you should expect, The 1,920x1,080p HD resolution that many of us are enjoying now on our 5-inch-or-larger smartphones and tablets is going to get better with a 4K resolution, Qualcomm showcased side-by-side images and video on a 10-inch tablet with a resolution of 3,840x2,160, The differences in colors and detail were much more subtle on the tablet than e ink iphone case on the 65-inch Sony display, where colors look more vibrant and images -- like blades of grass -- are significantly more detailed..

Ok, so you don't have a 4K TV now, but one day you will. When you do, you'll be able to treat your eyes to even crisper 4K photos, home videos, and Android games (for instance). Behind the scenes, any videos you view that support the high-efficiency video codec H.265 will use the video processor on the Snapdragon 805 chipset to compress the file to half its size. The key here is that this is a hardware solution, not a power-hungry software process. As a device owner, you won't notice a difference, unless it's a small boost in battery life.

Photos and graphics aren't the only way e ink iphone case to benefit from resolution, Icons, text, and fine lines will also appear even sharper, which is especially important when you zoom in on an image or read a text-heavy item on a large-screen tablet, The best example showed a recipe on a 4K tablet side-by-side with a 1080p tablet, The clarity on the 4K tablet was striking compared to the 1080p tablet; I felt like I was getting an eye test and switching from the hazier resolution of my current prescription to a sharper resolution that revealed just how fuzzy I was..
