“I wanted to get a community of people together to have a live experience,” he says. “My hope is that this is a festival where you can go and have a cool Comic-Con experience or a cool panel experience or a cool music experience or a little bit of all of them.”. His inspiration for giving birth to a new festival amid the already crowded field of summer fan festivals (from the recent Colossal Clusterfest to Hydra Comic-Con) is pretty simple, and actually sort of sweet, “I’ve never heard of a festival quite like this one, a festival for people who love comedy and love Comic-Con and love the maker fair and love ballroom connection dance shoes music, I thought, ‘Can I pull this off? Let’s try!,” says Hardwick, “I really hope people come out to see it, I know it can be hard to leave the house these days, not to mention trying to park.”..
As with many of his projects, Hardwick always follows his passion for pop culture. Unlike the average TV talking head, he’s actually excited about the subjects he discusses. He’s hugely into horror in general and zombies in particular. Hardwick’s authenticity comes through in everything he does, from Comic-Con panels to late-night banter. Luckily, his wife Lydia Hearst, a model and fashion blogger, is also obsessed with apocalyptic horror. Hardwick knows that his natural affinity for the nerd canon is what sets him apart from the bland babble of most TV hosts. He says that if he ever stopped loving “Walking Dead,” for instance, he wouldn’t keep doing the post-show gabfest.

Ethan Ostrow doesn’t like to brag, but his first week of college couldn’t have gone much better. After graduating from Berkeley High, where he divided his time between playing piano in the award-winning jazz ensemble and starring in a succession of Youth Musical Theater Company productions, Ostrow landed in Minneapolis, drawn by the University of Minnesota’s esteemed Theatre Arts & Dance program. “That first week at school I had a bunch of auditions and got cast in a lot of shows, including a leading role in one of their main stage plays, which is really unusual for a freshman,” Ostrow says. “It was a very successful first week.”.
